We’ve been reading that the latest trends in tourism are authenticity and nature-based experiences.
At the Stanford Inn we have always stressed both. We want our guests to enjoy the beauty of the forests and coast; to slow down, to connect with the natural world: paddling the quiet estuary of Big River, taking a gardening class, taking a guided hike or trail run, riding a mountain bike on the headlands, taking a Creative Playshop, focusing on found objects from forests and beaches, or simply sitting, feeling one’s senses come alive. Nature is vibrant, always moving, changing. Now is our Spring –buds opening, hummingbirds flitting, the sun’s warmth, frogs croaking, birds chirping; their movement stilling us enough to respond to the abundant life around us. We need this to reset, to recharge.

Valentine’s Day reminds us that our first package was “Fall in Love With Life Again.” As we move into February, the month celebrating love, we reflect on what brings us truly alive, how to activate and sustain that, to open more and more, to give more and more. This Valentine’s Day we hope you celebrate your ability to love, not just those closest to you but life on our precious planet.
