Yoga & Pilates Class Descriptions
Joyful Vinyasa with Katie
Joyful Vinyasa is a breath-centered practice inspired by traditional Vinyasa flow, where each movement is guided by the rhythm of your breath. Expect a playful sequence that builds gentle heat, weaving together foundational poses and creative transitions to challenge seasoned yogis and support curious beginners alike. Come flow, move with intention, and share in the joy of practice together.
Gentle Yoga with Catherine
Gentle yoga is a blend of venerable yoga traditions and contemporary yoga styles appropriate for absolute beginners and seasoned practitioners of all ages. Stretch, strengthen, breathe, balance and meditate gently with personalized support and guidance offered in a warm and welcoming, dynamic practice.
Restorative Yoga with Julia
In Restorative Yoga we use props like blocks, bolsters, blankets and straps to support the body in passive stretching so we can breathe, relax, and nourish our nervous system. We will warm up, do some easy breath work, and relax in our restorative poses with gentle music.
Flow of Life Vinyasa with Ashley
A moving, breathing, meditative practice; this breath synchronized vinyasa branches out into various postures. Tuning into what we need in the moment, keeping our intention in focus as we move our bodies mindfully. Internally heating and shedding what we no longer need, shifting into a new energy within, while keeping a softness and ease through the flow of sequences. A blend of enjoyable challenge and grace.
Gentle Yoga with Annabelle
Gentle yoga classes for all levels are a space where you can come as you are. My classes focus on connecting breath and mindfulness with movement, so you can connect with your body and release tension. I love using music and hands on adjustments to help you be more present.
Yoga Pilates Fusion with Deb
Each Pilates class focuses on strength, posture, breath control and flexibility, with emphasis on challenging the core muscles. Class is suitable for beginners to advanced participants.
Calming Therapeutic Yoga
This class is a mixture of gentle joint freeing and fascia hydrating flows, interspersed with longer holds for deeper stretching. We rarely get off the floor, and the emphasis is on coordinating breath with movement, calming the nervous system, and developing inner awareness and respect for the needs of one’s own body. Students will always be encouraged to move at their own pace, and will be offered suggestions for moving safely with any pain or limitation that may arise.
“Whatever” Therapeutic Yoga
Depending on the weather and the needs of whoever walks through the door, this class could be anything from a repeat of the Tuesday gentle floor class, to an Iyengar inspired series of standing poses for strength and balance, or a combination. The pace will always be gentle, with time given between poses to rest and observe the effects. The emphasis will be on breath and body awareness, calming the nervous system, and suggestions will be given for moving well with any pain or limitations that may arise.
“The only vegan resort in North America, this Mendocino inn takes an unconventional approach to wellness…offering an extensive menu of classes, from mushroom foraging to tai chi to cooking…”
