The trees are in bud, the daffodils, camelias, Australian teas blooming, and our clocks have sprung forward. We welcome the rebirth of the trees and the colors of the season. Spring’s energy is exciting with new life bursting forth.
Speaking of which, a guest told us about a wonderful live camera of an eagle’s nest above Big Bear Valley. We have been watching as proud mama and papa, Jackie and Shadow, welcomed first two, and now three, fluffy eaglets. Shadow brings fish as Jackie minds the babies. A spring miracle after two years with no successful hatches. With all the chaos happening, watching this natural wonder has been joyful: CLICK HERE.
We have been reading Diana Beresford-Kroeger’s “Our Green Heart”. A polymath, Beresford-Kroeger is a botanist, a cardiovascular medical researcher, and a multi-award winner for science writing. And she was the “the last child to receive a Druidic education.” The term “Druid” may well have come from the Celtic words “dru” (tree, in particular Oak tree) and “wid” (to know). “Our Green Heart” is science and the science of trees and their relationship to us – and in particular their ability to enhance health and heal. Each of her 32 chapters stands on its own and the book is less than 200 pages. “Our Green Heart” is one of the most important books of the last 50 years! It is available from your favorite bookstore, on-line or on the street. We can not recommend it more!
