Last week, during Spring Break, we hosted families enjoying time together. Some of our best reviews are from children. They leave us drawings and notes that we treasure. They love the gardens, the rescued animals, the pool and happily express their enthusiasm. In my play shops, I encourage the free, expressive part of ourselves that our hypervigilant, well-behaved, adult-selves keep us from sharing who we are, what we enjoy, what enlivens us.
Expression is communication and communication allows connection. Now, more than ever, our world needs more person-to-person connection. Stopping to take a breath, disconnecting from our devices and taking in the people and beauty around us, will allow some healing.
Spring and the holidays of this season celebrate rebirth and hope. As we hide colored eggs (chocolate here) we remember the symbolism. And Earth Day reminds all to be more conscious and caring of the environment. “Every day is Earth Day at The Stanford Inn.”
