45 years ago, on September 15, we moved into what was then unit 4, and began our journey innkeeping here. The inn was very different then as were we! I remember we had wanted to rent 10 rooms that first night as we felt that would be a good omen. As it happened, we did because in 1980 few inns on the coast had televisions – we did as the former owner was an electrician. In fact we had eight! At that time, many travelers were hooked on a series called Shogun, so Jeff quickly unpacked two televisions we had brought with us, installed them, and lo and behold, we rented all ten rooms! Many good omens would follow, confirming this is where we belonged.
This time of year is our favorite with the sense of new beginnings and clearer perspectives, as the angle of the sun shifts, allowing more light into the forest and sharper definitions of sky and ocean.
