Meet our Big River Llamas

Our first llama was an anniversary present to Joan. We acquired others to provide an opportunity for our children to experience breeding, raising and training these gentle animals. Not only ours, but children at the grammar school often visit to learn about llamas and organic farming.

Llamas are gentle, eat little, and have few health problems.

We have had many successful births including "Llama Beans", black with white stockings, "Black Bottom Pie", named for obvious reasons, and "Sugar Bodacia" named "Sugar" by the kindergarten class and "Bodacia" by a friend who suggested we recognize her birth on St. Patrick's Day by naming her after the Irish Queen who drove away the Romans.

Fiddlersticks
Today, our llamas entertain, help keep the pastures mowed and provide important nitrogen-rich ingredients for composting.
